Chipotle Salsa

Christian Nevarez, Head Chef, and Co-founder at Terras will walk us through how to make one of his favorites, the chipotle salsa.

What do you need?

  • White onion

  • 4 Tomatoes

  • 1/2 Cup of Chipotle Salsa

  • 3 Jalapeños

  • 1 cilantro bushel

  • Salt

Step 1

Cut tomatoes and onion into fourths and place in an iron cast skillet or an oven-safe stainless steel pan.

Step 2

Remove stem from jalapeños and also toss them into the skillet or pan.

Step 3

Roast tomatoes, onion, and jalapeños for 15 minutes at 500 degrees (if your oven doesn't go up to 500 degrees, set to its highest temperature).

Step 4

Carefully remove skillet or pan from the oven. Add contents to the blender in the following order: tomatoes, jalapeños, chipotle sauce, and onions.

Step 5

Cut the stems off the cilantro bushel. Add leaves and salt to the blender.

Step 6

Set your blender to the lowest speed level. The goal is for the salsa to have a texture of a salsa made on a molcajete. Run for 10-15 seconds and stop to check on the texture of the salsa. If it's too chunky, repeat the process one more time.

Step 7

Enjoy!
