Homemade Corn Tortillas



Christian Nevarez, Head Chef, and Co-founder at Terras will walk us through an essential food item in Mexican cuisine, the corn tortilla.

Makes 15-20 Tortillas


What do you need?

  • 3 cups of cornflour (Chef's choice: Maseca Brand)

  • 1/2 cup of butter (room temperature)

  • 2 cup of water

  • 2 tablespoons of salt

  • 1 tablespoon of pepper


The Ingredients
 
Add 1/2 Cup of Room Temparature Butter
 
Mix Butter with Cornflour
 

Add Salt/Pepper


 
Mix and Smile
Add 2 Cups of Water
Mix all ingredients
 
Pull from mixing bowl and place on a clean flat surface.
 
Roll golf ball-sized portions.
 

Place on tortilla maker and slowly press down.

 

Slowly pull plastic covers your tortilla.

 
Place your tortilla on a hot pan or flat cooker.
 
Your tortilla is ready to be flipped over when the edges start rising.
 
Cook the raw side for 2-minutes or to your preference.
